Missions Trip to the Hope House in Mexico
During my first year of Heartland MC in 2012 a group of students went on a missions trip to Guadalajara Mexico. I have never been out of the country before or even a plane so I was really nervous. I was really scared that this missions trip would be very challenging because where we were going to be ministring was at a place called Hope House which is an all boys home where they take in boys that are abandanded and abused. There was only 3 girls going on this trip so we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Even though I was very nervous about the whole trip, God taught me so much. It was amazing to see the boys open up so much to us and seeing how much we can help. I feel in love with the kids there, it was a feeling that I have never felt so strong about. To see the boys that did not want to be with the rest of the boys playing sports because they felt uncomfortable, seeing them open up to me and being able to show them how much they mean to me, just to see them play sports, laugh and smile was the best feeling. Seeing the kids on the street, even the shy ones open up to me because I showed them affection and was open to playing games and stepping out of my comfort zone. God did a lot in my life in Mexico and God really touched those kids in Mexico. Seeing the kids cry when we left showed me that those kids will always have a special place in my heart. It is amazing what can happen to you when you open yourself up to people and let God work within you.
